Qualche definizione
Preambolo: La lingua ufficiale con la quale sono scritte le regole ufficiali dell'International America's Cup è l'inglese , fatta eccezione per alcune parole che seguono che sono definite a parte. In ogni modo per il significato delle singole parole si fa riferimento all'Oxford English Dictionary ed al contesto in cui è inserita la parola nell'intera frase, ed infine nel caso di ulteriori dubbi, si può fare riferimento all'Oxford Companion to Ships
2.2 La parola "shall" (dovrebbe), indica obligatorietà, mentre i vocaboli "may", "can", indicano possibilità ed hanno carattere permissivo.
2.3 Le unità di misura ufficiali sono metri e chilogrammi.
2.4 Quando uno dei termini riportati di seguito compare in grossetto, assume il senso della definizione qui riportata:
- Amidship (a mezza nave): individua la sezione trasversale a metà della lunghezza dell'imbarcazione.
- Appandage (appendice): indica ogni elemento che fuoriesce dallo scafo propriamente detto, in corrispondenza della linea di mezzeria dell'imbarcazione (chiglia, timone, calcagnoli, correttori di assetto, ma sono esclusi il boma ed il tangone); appendici possono anche comprendere elementi appartenenti ad una di quelle elencate precedentemente, che abbiano un estensione all'interno dell'imbarcazione (ad es. la barra del timone).
- Class Rules (regole di classe): si riferiscono alle regole della classe International America's Cup.
- CORD: acronimo per Challenger Of Record and Defender
- Cure (Rimedio): si indica le modifiche irreversibili delle proprietà chimiche di una resina termoindurente, attraverso la reazione chimica ad anello chiuso di agenti aggreganti.
- Deck (coperta): individua la superficie superiore dell'imbarcazione al di sopra dello scafo dell'imbarcazione e all!=interno dell!=insellatura o impavesata, orizzontale o quasi orizzontale; viene attraversata dall'arcaccia, ad eccezione del pozzetto.
- FRP: individuano le fibre plastiche rinforzate termoindurenti

A few Definitions
The first in a series of analysis of the AC rulebook. We will start on the basis of the rules used in the Y2K edition and then try to anayze the differences & consequences with the upcoming edition.
The AC class rules are defined by agreement between the Challenger of Record (LR) and the Defender (TNZ) and govern sailing engineering and regatta rules.
International Sailing Federation's last set of published rules form the basis of the AC class to a large extent.
Changes can be enacted by the CORD with approval from the Challengers' and Defenders' syndicates.
Rules are revisited after each AC match by a technical committee appointed by the CORD and the current technical director who shall be chairman. Amendments are forwarded to the succeeding Challenger of Record and Defender.
When a term defined below is used in its defined sense, it is printed in bold type.
- Amidships means a transverse vertical station at 50% of the length of the boat
- Appendage means any element outside the canoe body up to the sheerline (including keels, rudders, skegs, trim tabs and wings, but excluding any bowsprit). It may include an element which extends from outside the fair body into the yacht (e.g. rudder stock)
- Class rule means the IACC rule in its current version
- CORD means the Challenger of Record and Defender
- Cure is deemed to be the irreversible change of properties of a thermosetting resin by the chemical reaction of ring closure (polymerisation) via linking agents
- Deck means the upper surfacae above the hull and inside the sheerline, which is horizontal or near horizontal, and the transom, but excluding cockpits, recesses and troughs.
- FRP means fibre reinforced thermoset plastics

Les règles du jeu
Préambule: La langue officielle des règlements de l'International America!=s Cup est l'anglais, mis à part quelques définitions sépécifiques. Le sens des mots s'appuie sur le Oxford English Dictionary et sur le context de la phrase entière dans laquelle le mot est employé. En cas de doute, on peut se référer au Oxford Companion to Ships
2.2 La parole "shall" (doit), indique une obbligation, alors que "may", "can", indiquent un caractère permissif.
2.3 Les unités de mesure officielles sont les mètres et les kilogrammes.
2.4 Lorsque un des termes à la suite apparaît, il prend le sens défini ci-dessous:
- Amidship : indique la section transversale a mi-chemin de la longueur de l'embarcation.
- Appandage (appendice): indique tout élément qui dépasse la masse de l'embarcation (quille, barre, timone, correcteur de niveau, à l'exclusion de la bôme et du tangon); Il speuvent comprendre des élément appartenant à celles indiquées s'ils ont une extension à l'intérieur de l'embarcation (le gouvernail est un bon exemple).
- Class Rules : les règles del 'International America's Cup.
- CORD: abbréviation pour Challenger Of Record and Defender
- Cure (Remède): indique des modifications irréversibles des propriétés chimiques d'une résine termodurcie à travers une réction chimique en cycle fermé avec des agents agrégés.
- f. Deck : la superficie supérieur au dessus la superficie supérieure du bateau qui est posé sur la coque et qui, à l'intérieur du bateau se trouve renforcé par des traverses horizontales (ou quasi horizontales).
- FRP: abbréviation pour les fibres de plastique renforcées termiquement.
