Match 5 looks like light winds again. However the data of match 4, with averages of 8 knots are positive for LR as we did not experience the same pulling away of TNZ as in the third race.

Barker rounds around in a tight maneuver around LR and take a better position.

Luna Rossa 00000----0
Nice start after all. Both teams maximised their chances. LR has an extra tack in and only 13m back after 3 minutes. In 10 minutes, LR manages to eke out 20 meters. But with the right corner looming, they have to tack at some point. Spithill runs a fluid tack and manages to survive with enough of a split...

The data shows TNZ is faster and Grael is looking for a shift. But the run will tell all - if LR cannot affect the TNZ spinnaker, the Kiwis can start thinking about Alinghi.

Fake gybe doesn't contribute much, actually TNZ extends. LR manages to eat back towards teh end of the run. Delta remains unchanged at 20 seconds at the gate.

Each subsequent measure was at that figure, with the actual distance varying quite a bit. The end of the last run heated up significantly with LR getting very close to covering TNZ's air. But it was not to be.

Congratulations to Team New Zealand on earning the Louis Vuitton Cup.
