And They're Off!
12-14 knots, but irregularity. Snookering? Could be. Averages are only twinkles in mathematicians eyes. |

Barker moves well from his postion and positions for a right-hand start. But Spithill manages to squeeze a bit toward the committe boat. Barker ekes out well, with good speed too. Well done. They tack first, LR follows tries to speed up and push TNZ off to the right.
MBut in one tack, well timed with a puff, TNZ takes control of the race, reverses tactics, pushing LR off the port lay line and earn a 12 second lay line.
Downwind, LR makes the first gybe, but half-way down the run... TNZ exits theirs with higher speed. Indicative. Yet, LR starts attacking and whittling down the lead. Near the gate, the tension is high as LR retakes 3 seconds!
Unless they split and some odd shift occurs, TNZ should be able to manage from here on end. They earn back 2 seconds on the beat and lose 3 on the run. Final gap 8 seconds.
The boats *are* close.
