Complimenti a Alinghi
Un'America's Cup divertentissima. La testa che cambia spesso, con le barca dietro che riesce a rimontare l'avversario: spettacolo che non si è visto spesso nelle ultime edizioni. E proprio un salto di vento nelle ultime cinque minuti che ha ribaltato la situazione dando a TNZ la possibilità di togliersi la penalità... Ma con solo 1 secondo - o 5 metri - Alinghi difende il titolo.
Ma si deve dire che Alinghi ha lasciato la porta aperta a TNZ. Le manovre non erano pulitissime. Man mano si vedeva la ruggine togliersi, ma anche nell'ultima regata, un'errore ha dato l'occasione a TNZ per sorpassare di poppa.

Alinghi ha dimostrato una velocità superiore, e sopratutto la possibilità di vivere più a lungo in posizioni difficili. I complimenti sono meritati su questi punti.
Peccato nella sesta regata per lo spi kiwi che è esploso nella sesta manche, ma è stato in contro-peso alla vittoria nella terza che fu una lotteria. TNZ ha il merito di aver sviluppato una barca per estendersi in diverse condizioni di vento - quando Alinghi poteva concentrarsi sui venti di fine-giugno. E un grande merito nella quasi-perfezione in manovra, in modo tale di rimanere competitivi in tutte le condizioni.

Alinghi deserves congratulations for having well defended the AC.
Both deserve our gratitude for having provided excellent entertainment. The kiwis showed what perfection in execution means.
The margins, the changes in lead, all without too much lottery meant one of the best competitions in recent history. And the final race had the best theatrics immaginable. A shift that allows TNZ back in and scrub off a penalty... but 1 second or 5 meters are the difference for Alinghi's successful defense.
Alinghi did leave the door open. Greater speed, but above all the capacity to live on the hip longer and really shaving things in tight spots were their assets. But the handling was good at best; gradually the rust was being brushed off, but they still let things slip later on, even in the last match.
Too bad for the blown kite on race 6, but that was par for the course given race 3 was a pure lottery. Still the kiwis managed to develop their boat for the full range of conditions - something Alinghi did not have to plan for - and use their reliability to be competitive all along. It is befitting to congratulate the kiwis as well.
